A family from Gatundu North is in pain and shock after their 25-year-old son, a Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) soldier, allegedly killed his wife just hours after the two went for a romantic photoshoot. Daniel Mburu, who was serving in Samburu County, is said to have allegedly killed his wife, Eunice Waruguru, 28, before turning the gun on himself. Speaking to Kameme TV, the KDF soldier’s family said the two got into a relationship three years ago and that, though they had issues, they were always in love and enjoyed taking trips together. “We were saddened to receive the heartbreaking news. We were told that Daniel Mburu and his wife were dead. We were told the incident occurred in the wee hours of Sunday. They were not angels, and so yes, there were issues here and there. However, those issues were not serious. I am shocked by this,” his father said. The family said they were heartbroken by the news, adding that they did not think Mburu, whom they described as a calm person, could do such a thing. Last photos of KDF soldier and his wife Details shared indicate that on Friday, March 6, a day before their deaths, the couple had a romantic photoshoot, during which they displayed their love for each other. In the photos that are circulating widely on social media, the couple’s photoshoot had a traditional Kikuyu theme, based on their attire. Their wide smiles, public displays of affection and warmth radiated through their images, unbeknownst to them that the images would be some of the final moments together. “From when they started dating three years ago, I had never seen them arguing. They were always in love and taking trips to Naivasha for fun times. I just cannot believe this happened,” another family member said. The couple leaves behind a three-year-old child.
