Kenyans shared differing reactions after a photo of Fred Matiang’i, Junet Mohamed and Simba Arati surfaced online on Saturday Morning.
In the photo, they were spotted posing at JKIA, with some netizens wondering why they were together despite Matiang’i beang an opposition leader.
But in the meantime, Fred Matiang’i, who was the centre of questions, quickly clarified why he had met the couple government officials.
“This morning, after checking in at the Kenya Airways desk at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, I bumped into Kisii Governor Hon. Simba Arati and Suna East MP Hon. Junet Mohamed, who had also checked in and were travelling to Kisumu. It was a chance encounter as each of us proceeded to board our flight. Contrary to false claims circulating online, this was neither a meeting held last night nor a planned engagement. It was simply a chance encounter between leaders at the airport. I then proceeded to Kisumu to join Siaya Governor Hon. James Orengo, People’s Liberation Party Leader Hon. Martha Karua, and the faithful for a church service at Apondo SDA Church in Ahero.” Fred wrote.
