Arbanton music lovers and other Kenyans have been been thrown into mourning following the death of popular singer and content creator Stoopid Boy.
News of his death spread rapidly across social media, Thursday evening with Kenyans taking to various platforms to express their heartbreak and pay tribute to the entertainer who had carved a distinctive space for himself in the country’s digital landscape.
Details surrounding the circumstances of his death have not been absolutely confirmed, but reports say he committed suicide.
His Last Moments
The Gota City rapper shared a video online about 20 hours before news of his death was announced.
The Instagram video posted on Tuesday, August 26, 2026 shows Stoopid Boy being confronted by another man inside what appears to be an unfinished building.
The man is seen grabbing the rapper by his shirt and pushing him against a wall as they exchange words.
The footage appears to be a skit, although the exact circumstances behind the scene remain unclear.
At one point, Stoopid Boy is heard saying: “Sawa, wacha nitafute pesa basi ninunue. Pole sibanji, sibanji, sibanji, sibanji. Iza, iza, iza yeye. Mi sina mambo.”
From his remarks, Stoopid Boy appears to be responding to a disagreement involving money or an item he was expected to buy. He says he will look for money and buy it before repeatedly saying “sibanji” and apologising.
Stoopid also appears to have an injury on his face in the said video.
It is not immediately clear whether the injury was part of the skit or had occurred before the footage was recorded.
The scene was filmed inside an unfinished house, with exposed walls and construction materials visible in the background.
The video has attracted renewed attention following the announcement of his death, with fans revisiting his final online activity.
However, there is no confirmed evidence linking the video or the confrontation depicted to his death.
The Final Hours
The controversial post was shared about 20 hours before Stoopid Boy’s death was announced by his friend and fellow artiste Raveen Domi.
Domi said he had seen the rapper the previous day and that he appeared to be in good spirits.
“Jamaa hata jana alikuwa tu fiti. Tumekuwa naye hapa kwa street kidogo kidogo, akaniambia anaenda studio. So alikuwa na ngoma alikuwa anaendelea kurecord,” Domi said.
Domi also recalled meeting Stoopid Boy while heading to Mukuru. He said the rapper asked him for Ksh25, but he did not have the money at the time.
“Nilikuwa natoka kwangu nikienda Mukuru, so akaniomba, I think alikuwa na number 25 bob, of which sikuwa nayo. Nikamwambia, ‘Ah bro sina, labda nikifika Mukuru nipate nikulete hivi,’” Domi said.
He added that they later went their separate ways and did not meet again.
He returned home and was later called outside, where he said he received news that Stoopid Boy had died at his mother’s house.
“Nimekaa hapo kwa nyumba kidogo kidogo, naitwa hapo nje, naambiwa Stoopid Boy amejinyonga na amejiinyonga kwa mamake. So sad guys, sad news kabisa,” he said.
Music And Struggles
Stoopid Boy had previously spoken publicly about his struggles with alcohol and drugs.
In 2025, he sought help through media personality Oga Obinna’s platform and entered a rehabilitation programme supported by Obinna, Dr Castro, King Pheezle and other well-wishers.He later spoke about the difficulties he faced after leaving rehabilitation and his efforts to rebuild his life.
The rapper also experienced a difficult period in his personal life, including the breakdown of his relationship with the mother of his children.
Suicidal Thoughts
In March 2026, he made a public suicide threat following a domestic dispute, prompting Oga Obinna to appeal for intervention.
Despite the challenges, Stoopid Boy continued making music and had recently been looking for a producer for new tracks.
His death also comes shortly after he mourned his older brother Yan, whom he publicly remembered last month.
He leaves behind two children and a catalogue that made him a recognisable voice from Gota City.
Domi described him as one of the talented artists Kenya had lost and urged people to pray for his family.
“Tumepoteza one of the most talented music artists in Kenya na pia in Gota City. Ni mbaya sana guys,” Domi said.
He added that Stoopid Boy had unfinished projects and dreams.
“So jamaa ameondoka kama ako na unfinished dreams guys. Sad kabisa. Na tumepoteza msanii,” he said.
