At least three people were killed and others injured as police used force to disperse crowds at Nembure Stadium, Embu.

The Embu County UDA Polling Centre Officials event was hosted by DeputyPresidentKithure Kindiki.
Chaos erupted when some residents were denied entry into the stadiumas they had not been invited through text messages. As a result, severalpeople were shot dead.

Chaos erupted when majority of residents were denied entry into the facility, leading to confrontation between police officers and civilians.

The politice also used teargas to disperse the crowds, forcing some of them to flee for safety.
Several cars, including one belonging to a journalist were burnt.
Wimwaro FM’s correspondent Murimi wa Mugendi’s car was among around 10 vehicles torched.





Embu Governor Cecily Mbarire, in a statement, said that Manyatta Constituency MP Gitonga Mukunji is to blame for the chaos, as he mobilized residents to storm the meeting and demand money.

Cecily said only the ones who had been invited were supposed to enter the facility.
“A lady was killed in a stampede as people tried to run,” a witness alleged.
