Meru Governor Kawira Mwangaza Impeached For Second Time

Meru County governor Kawira Mwangaza has been impeached by Meru MCAs After all 59 Members of the county assembly present in the parliament voted to remove her from the seat.

None of the present members voted against the motion. However, 10 members were absent.

The MCAs cited various reasons for impeachment, including misuse of office, contempt of court and misuse of county funds.

The speaker of Meru county assembly now has 48 hours to inform the speaker of the Senate about the impeachment, after which the senate will hold a commitee or full house to determine the governor’s fate.

The senate, in 2022 saves the governor from the first attempted impeachment.
