A tragic plane crash in Napal’s capital, Kathmandu, has left the country in mourning where a Saurya Airlines test flight carrying 19 people crashed during takeoff at the Tribhuvan International Airport.
According to reports, 18 passengers lost their lives instantly, with only the pilot surviving the fatal accident. The deceased include technical staff members of the airline and two crew members. The pilot, currently undergoing treatment at a hospital, was en route to Pokhara, a popular tourist destination.
NDTV reported that rescue teams have recovered five bodies from the crash site.
A distressing footage shows the plane engulfed in flames and smoke, prompting swift responses from fire engines and ambulances dispatched to the scene. An airport official mentioned hearing “cracking noises” from the aircraft, adding to the grim details surrounding the incident.
