Detectives from Serious Crimes Unitsof The DCI grilled three of Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua’s close aides over links to the recent anti-government protests.
Detectives, on July 30 interrogated the senior officials attached to the deputy president’s office over claims of sponsoring goons during the Gen Z demonstrations.
The detectives pitched tents at Gachagua’s Karen residence, where they grilled the officials for hours.
Those who were questioned are former Nyeri Town MP Ngunjiri Wambugu, who now works as a political advisor in the office of the DP, and Munene wa Mumbi, who is the private secretary of the DP.
Former Embakasi West lawmaker Eric Theuri, who now works as the deputy president’s youth advisor, was also questioned.
DCI detectives also plan to question Gachagua’s close associates, including Embakasi North lawmaker James Gakuya and his Embakasi Central counterpart Mejja Donk. Detectives believe Gachagua’s allies directly or indirectly had a hand in the infiltration of goons during the Gen-Z protests.
