Minister for Interior, Kipchumba Murkomen on Sunday, March 9, graced an Iftar Dinner event hosted by the Garissa Waqf at Weston Hotel, where he contributed Ksh 3 million in cash to Madrasa Al-Najaa.
In a video, the CS is seen standing beside the podium where Mining CS Hassan Joho prepares to announce his contribution.
A man carrying a large brown bag is also present. Later, Joho, who is serving as the MC while collecting contributions, announces that Murkomen had handed over Ksh 3 million in cash.
“Our Waziri Onesmus Kipchumba Murkomen, in cash, three million shillings. Tena Waziri, tutakutana vinyingi wewe,” Joho said.
Other leaders who attended the Iftar dinner include Wajir Governor and Chairman of the Council of Governors, Ahmed Abdullahi and Garissa Governor Nathif Jama Adam.
Murkomen’s contribution has sparked public uproar on social media, with critics arguing that the money could have been channeled to more pressing needs in the country.
