Ugandan police have denied viral reports that Bobi Wine was arrested overnight and taken to an unknown location.
This comes after security officers raided Bobi’s home the entire Friday as votes were being counted at the National Tally Centre.
Police spokesperson ACP Rusoke Kituuma, in a press statement on Saturday morning told journalists that Bobi remains at his home.
“There are deceitful and inciteful allegations intended to depict the security agencies as brutal andviolators of the rights of a political candidate,” he said.
“The allegations that Robert Kyagulanyi has been arrested and taken to an unknown location are deceitful, untrue, and unfounded. He added.
“As far as I am informed, Bobi Wine is not under arrest. The deployment around his place is visible but we have deployed in all areas where our intelligence considers areas of interest including areas around Magere,” He insisted.
