Detectives from The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) stormed buildings in wich several youths were involving in illegal sexual activities.
The DCI, in a statement, explained that the participants were lured into the shameful acts in Rongai and Kiserian.
“In the fight against sexual exploitation and the production of obscene material, detectives have ramped up their operations in Kiserian and Ongata Rongai, uncovering shocking enterprises preying on our young women,” the DCI noted.
Ongata Rongai
In one instance, where 30 women were cought, the activities were being done in what the DCI described as a “den”
“In a raid on a house believed to be a den for the commercial production of explicit content in Rimpa area of Ongata Rongai, police acted swiftly on tips from the members of the public and found 30 women, aged 19 to 27, trapped in a nightmarish scheme,” stated the DCI.
The officers also confiscated materials which they believe were used to perform the activities.
“A search of the house led to the recovery of seven laptops fitted with cameras and other equipment believed to be used in the production of obscene content,” said DCI.
The suspects have been taken into custody at Ongata Rongai Police Station, where investigations are ongoing ahead of their arraignment.
Kiserian
In the extensive raid, DCI says that, detectives launched another operation in the neighbouring Kiserianin, “in response to credible intelligence about young women lured by false promises of domestic jobs.”
“Instead of a safe haven, these women found themselves entangled in a web of sexual exploitation and commercial prostitution,” Says DCI.
According to the DCI, a joint effort by Police officers from Kiserian and Rongai Police Stations, 18 women were rescued “from this grim reality and placed under police protection.”
Mobile phones, laptops, and other items believed to have been used in the commission of the offences were recovered and secured as exhibits.
DCI says the prime suspect remains at large, with detectives pursuing crucial leads to bring the individual to justice.
Further, the DCI announced that arrangements are being made to provide the rescued women with safe, appropriate shelter and comprehensive holistic support services, including psychosocial counselling and medical care, to ensure their safety, dignity, and successful reintegration.
