A lady has shocked many after reports emerged that her breasts weigh a staggering 27kg and show no sign of stopping.
Summer Roberts, opened up about the rare condition that has seen them continue to grow since she was just seven years old.
The 28-year-old has been living with macromastia – a rare condition in which the breasts become excessively large and can continue to grow.
Now wearing a size 30U, Summer’s breasts weigh around 27kg (4st 4lb) and have caused her chronic pain, difficulty sleeping and huge disruption to her everyday life.
The condition has also come at an enormous financial cost, with Summer estimating that it costs her upwards of £125,000 a year (Ksh 21,914,625).
She even has to import bras because of her unusual size. Speaking about the sheer weight of her breasts, Summer said: “They’re quite heavy but I think because I go through it every day, I don’t really think about it. But seeing it, it is really crazy.”
Summer said she did not receive a diagnosis until around four years ago, despite having struggled with her breasts since childhood.
“I didn’t get diagnosed until, like, four years ago here, and then I went to America and got told more about it but they told me that it is all hormone based,” she disclosed.
“Macromastia is all to do with your hormones, so they kicked in when I was seven, and then that’s when they started to grow. And then when I was 25 again, that’s when they grew 11 sizes in a year.”
She said she had repeatedly visited doctors throughout her teenage years but was initially told that her rapidly developing breasts were simply part of puberty.
“I was at the doctor’s throughout all of my teens, constantly, and they would just say it was, like, puberty, nothing serious,” she said.
She revealed she had been trying to have breast reduction surgery since she was just 14, but claims her pleas were repeatedly rejected.
“I was trying to get reductions from when I was 14, and they would tell me that my BMI’s too high, because my boobs weigh too much and they were basically saying that I was, like, overweight.”
