While the exact cause is yet to be established, speculations indicate that the incident occurred after the woman allegedly turned down a marriage proposal from a man believed to have been preferred by the brothers.
According to unconfirmed reports, she chose to settle down with a different man, leaving the brothers disappointed and resorting to assaulting her as a form of punishment.
The unconfirmed reports also allege that the man whose proposal was turned down by the victim had already submitted dowry in preparation for an engagement ceremony.
The incident has since drawn harsh criticism from members of the public, including the political class and other leaders, who have condemned the heinous act and called on the DCI to investigate the matter and take action against the men.
The Federation of Women Lawyers in Kenya (FIDA-Kenya) condemned the act, adding that they were closely following the incident.
The women’s lobby group urged anyone with information regarding the incident to present it to them for immediate action.
“We are following up on this incident and ask any person with any information on the same to share with us, kindly,” FIDA-Kenya commented.
