Iran’s state broadcaster, IRIB, has published a post on X claiming that Kenya and Nigeria possess strategic military reserves that could be deployed when the time is right.
In the post, IRIB wrote: “Kenya and Nigeria also have strategic military reserves that will enter the battlefield at the appropriate time,” attributing the claim to what it described as a national affairs expert.
However, the post did not provide any details about the alleged military reserves or explain how the two countries are purportedly connected to the ongoing conflict.
As of now, the governments of Kenya and Nigeria have not issued any official statements responding to the claims.
It also remains unclear whether the statement published by IRIB reflects the official position of the Iranian government or merely the opinion of a contributor interviewed by the broadcaster.
Diplomats and analysts are continuing to monitor the situation to see whether official responses will be issued by Nairobi, Abuja, or Tehran regarding the statement.
