At least five people have been confirmed dead following an accident which involved a lorry that lost control along Ikutha-Kasaala Road in Kitui County.
A police report explained that a Mitsubishi Canter ferrying traders to Kasaala Market overturned past Mutulu Shopping Centre, killing five people instantly.
Also, 21 people sustained injuries and were taken to Ikutha Level IV Hospital.
The bodies of the deceased, one man and four women, were transferred to Mutomo Level IV Subcounty Hospital Mortuary.
“Efforts to pull the vehicle are still underway as we are waiting for a breakdown to pull the lorry,” part of the police report read.
