Dekow Barrow Mohammed who is also the brother in law to Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale has won the Garissa township parliamentary by-election on a UDA ticket.
Barrow garnered 11,572, defeating his close competitor Nasir Dolal Mohammed, also known as Jofle (UDM) who had 8,158 votes.
The race had attracted other candidates such as Abdikhaim Osman Mohammed of DP, Ibrahim Nur MulowShurie of Narc-Kenya. Abdifaisal Amin of ODM and Muhiadin Ahmed Abdirashid of DAP.
Dekow was declaredthe winner on the morningof Friday6th January 2022 after the tally of votes.
“I am delighted and grateful to all. I shall serve the electorate fairly in this constituency,” Dekow said after being announced the winner by IEBC.
