Two Notorious Gunmen Shot By Police Along Eldoret-Mumias Road

Two armed gangsters believed to be part of a five-ma gang who have been terrorizing residents in the five counties of Uasin-Gishu, Trans-Nzoia, Bungoma, Kakamega and Vihiga were killed in the evening of Saturday,  7th January 2023 in a fire exchange with sleuths.

According to the Directorate Of Criminal Investigations, the two are suspected of killing three innocent members of the public and stealing from Mpesa Shops, Supermarkets and wholesalers.

An AK-47 assault rifle loaded with 19 rounds of 7.62mm special calibre were recovered from the armed thugs who were on a motorbike headed to Eldoret from Mumias.

The thugs defied orders to surrender and shot at the officers, prompting the undercover detectives to answer the provocation with a volley of fierce gunfire killing them on the spot along Eldoret- Mumias road.

A report from the forensic ballistic unit based at the DCI National Forensic Laboratory, had linked all the attacks to one firearm prompting the deployment of a team of seasoned detectives to the five counties on a manhunt for the the thugs.

“The armed thugs who were on a motorbike headed to Eldoret from Mumias defied orders to surrender and shot at the officers, prompting the undercover detectives to answer the provocation with a volley of fierce gunfire killing them on the spot,” The  DCI reported.

According to the DCI, between October 22 and December 26,  2023 the thugs staged a total of eight attacks, with traders loosing millions of shillings to the gang.
