A man identified as Billy Kipchumba Koech, who appeared before Eldoret principal Magistrate Caroline Wattimah, confessed to commiting an act of sleeping with a cow, which is contrary to norms.
According to the court, the suspect committed the act on 11th September 2023 at Seretio Village, Moiben sub-County in Uasin Hishu County.
The court was told that on the day of the crime, the owner of the said cow went to the shed after hearing a commotion between the suspect and the involved cow, and also found the cow bleeding from her reproductive part of the body.
The owner of the cow also told the court that he found a used condom inside the shed, and when the suspect was interrogated he confessed to having sex with the cow.
The suspect had also been found with cattle feaces on his trousers’ fore side.
The suspect, before the Principal Magistrate said that it’s the devil who tempted him to commit the act, and that he regrets doing so, and also begged the court to forgive him.
“Ni kweli nilifanya kile ninachotuhumiwa lakini nilishawishiwa na shetani aliyenipandiosha mzuka wa tamaa kali ya kutaka kufanya ngono. Naomba mahakama hii inisamehe,” the accused pleaded.
The judge, on making the judgement, said that the sexual act on the cow was bad because it caused strange pain to the animal.
“Nimesikia kilio chako na baada ya kuzingatia ushahidi uliotolewa mahakamani na upande wa mashtaka, ni wazi mshtakiwa alishiriki tendo la ngono na ng’ombe. Wanyama wanapaswa kuheshimiwa na kupewa hadhi kama vile wanadamu wanapaswa kutendewa. Ninamhukumu mshtakiwa kutumikia kifungo cha miaka miwili jela,” aaid the judge.
Hower, the accused has 14 days to appeal the judgement.
