Brice Oligui Who Led Coup Wins Gabon’s Presidential Elections By Over 90% Votes

Brice Oligui Nguema was announced the winner of Gabon’s presidential election with 90.35% of votes.

Oligui, a Gabonese military officer, who has been serving as the transitional president of Gabon led the 2023 coup d’ètat.

After the coup, he became the chairman of the Committee for the Transition and Restoration of Institutions since 2023.

The 53-year-old has also been the Commander-in-Chief of the Gabonese Republican Guard since 2020.

He is a member of the Bongo family and played a key part in overthrowing his cousin Ali Bongo.
