MP Owen Baya has withdrawn the bill that sought to ban Muguka, a type of Miraa grown in Embu.
This comes after DP Kithure Kindiki hosted the law maker at his Karen residence, early Wednesday 4th June.

“Following the request from Embu County elected leaders, met the Hon Owen Baya, sponsor of the private member’s bill that sought to delete cathus edulis (Muguuka) from the Schedule to the Crops Act.The Hon Baya has graciously accepted to drop his legislative proposal,” announced Kindiki.


Kindiki, on the same morning of Jue 4, met Embu Governor Cecily Mbarire at his Karen residence.

Kindiki said the meeting was aimed at discussing status of national government projects in the area and interventions to protect key agricultural values chains including tea, coffee, macadamia and cathus edulis (Muguuka).
Mbarire was in the company of County Assembly Majority Leader Peter Muriithi.
Manyatta MP Gitonga Mukunji had recently alleged that the government has a tendency of creating problems and then solving them for their political mileages.
