Baby Gift: Infant Whose Struggles Started On Day Of Birth

Thousands of Kenyan young people  stormed the Njukîrî Showground, Embu to offer support to a youthful Tiktoker, Identified as  Mama Gift, whose son—Gift is ailing.

Mama Gift—a single mother of one from Gathoge, Embu, whose deep love for her son moved the hearts of social media users, was immersed into a well of hope.

The well-wishers, most of whom were Gen Z, took the humble village of Mariarî Maîrî into a standstill, as they energetically waved miniature Kenyan flags and placards with bold statements of courage.

Roads leading to the venue experienced traffic  jam from early morning as youths arrived on motorbikes, blowing vuvuzelas and chanting in celebration of the mother whose resilience has become a national symbol of courage.

The participants, speaking to the press said that the event was absolutely not politically driven.

“As Gen Z, we have decided that Kenya is one,” said a content creator addressing the crowd.

“We don’t need politicians to tell us what to do. We are doing this because it’s right.” another participant said.

The youths also vowed to sustain their newfound unity beyond acts of charity, pledging to extend their collective voice to matters of leadership and national discourse.

During the event, participants donated essential household items, medical supplies, and financial assistance to support Mama Gift and her child.

The gathering was streamed live across various social media platforms, amplifying awareness and drawing even more nationwide support.

Network Outage During The Event 

Even after great arraignments and preparations by Gen Z, however, there were claims that there was insufficiency of Safaricom network in the area during the event.

Absence Of Bishop Ben

It was notable that JCM’s Bishop Ben didn’t attend the event despite being highly anticipated. He had reportedly cancelled his attendance following a complaints by Gen Zs that they do not want companies to facilitate their events.

The fundraising event was the second major youth-led movement recently, following a similar nationwide mobilization that uuplifted another young content creator—Kaluma Boy from Othaya who went viral for caring selflessly for his ailing father.

Where Does Gift Suffer From?

 Baby Gift battles multiple medical conditions, including; cerebral palsy, chronic asthma, and cardiovascular complications.

Gift was born after a difficult 18-hour labour that caused brain damage due to meconium exposure.
Gift’s Father Ran Away

After learning about the child’s condition during birth, Mama Gift’s partner disowned them, reportedly claiming that there is no history of such complications in his family’s  lineage.
