Embu Governor Cecily Mbarire stood rooted infront of hundreds of mourners at ACK Church Mukangu, Ruguru Ngandori Ward in Manyatta Constituency as she struggled to come to terms with the reality of the death of her close family member.

Who Was The Deceased?
83-year-old Peter William Njuguna who died on 27th August 2025 was the uncle to Cecily Mbarire.

Peter, who was also an elite member of the society, was a retired Lay Leader of the ACK Church.

Villagers, friends, family members and former colleagues described him as a hardworking man who was good to all people and a peace-maker.
How Was Mbarire’s Reaction?
After the MC, Mr Pius called for attention of the congregation to stand up in readiness to Governor Mbarire’s speech, the Governor signalled him to retract his request to have the mourners stand in her honour.

“…let’s welcome her while sitting…,” said the MC as the mourners watched.
Cecily, who was also in a face mask stood up slowly and headed towards the front of the congregation before she started her speech with recognitions of various dignitaries.
However, as she started making her main address regarding her uncle, Mr Peter, she hesitated.
“Now…,” she started before remaining mum for nearly a minute as she stared in horror at her uncle’s remains.
“…Now,” she continued as a close guardian woman from the tent came near her an held her hand.
She remained silent again as she stared at the congregation before she said; “Thank you for coming.”
She was then guided to her sit as mourners sympathised.
Cecily Mbarire Admits It Was One Of Her “Heviest Moment”
The Governor disclosed that her late uncle was instrumental in her life and her political career.
This, she said, was even more after the demise of her father.

“Today marks one of the heaviest moments in my life and that of my family as we bid farewell to my beloved uncle, Peter William Njuguna. To my siblings and I, he was not just an uncle, but a true father figure, a mentor, and a steady pillar of strength since the day we lost our dad. At my lowest moments, both personal and political, Uncle always found the right words to lift me. He would remind me with his resolute faith, “Daughter, there is no challenge that God has no solution for. Keep moving forward.” Those words carried me through storms, and they will remain etched in my heart forever. Even in the face of illness, Uncle radiated resilience, hope, and optimism. His spirit never wavered, and his courage gave us strength. In him, I have lost not just a relative, but a confidant, a friend, and a guide whose wisdom shaped who I am today. As we lay him to rest at his Mukangu home, my heart grieves deeply, but my soul is comforted knowing he lived a life of impact, faith, and love. Fare thee well, dear Uncle. You were our rock, and your legacy will live on in us. Till we meet again.” She wrote.
