A frail Nicholas Kariuki slowly reaches to his door to open his mud-walled house, covered with a black nylon paper on the roof, as Prone TV crew watch in horror, the man using his crutch to gain support and temporary lean of his leg which is in the verge of amputation.
He sits on the ground right outside the house, signs of struggles evident on his face and body. On his left leg, is a huge scar and a constriction on the lower part, with the leg bone seemingly divided, making it impossible for the straighting the leg on lifting it up.
Mr Nicolas, a 45-year-old resident of Gitumbi village, Kithimu ward in Embu is living in extreme pain since he was attacked with a metallic weapon more than a year ago.
Attacked By Brother
He told Prone TV, that his brother, James Gitonga came at his home, surprisingly undressed and told him that it was his “day to die.”
He immediately hit him on the leg with a metallic object, instantly breaking his left leg.
He said the perpetrator then sought a vehicle which was used to rush him to hospital, where IM nails were applied in an operation.
He says afterwards, the problem persisted and became more severe.
He says due to the pain, he hardly can do daily chores, and is forced to stay asleep nearly all the time.
He also painfully narrated how his family members abandoned him, and do not give him food, and gets some of the the basic needs such as water from a neighbour.
He explained that after the heinous attack, his brother still walks free, and his efforts to seek justice proved futile as a court rendered it a “family matter”.
Medical Appeal
Nicholas said his medication would require about Ksh. 1 Million. He called on people of goodwill to help him raise the funds, and the funds can be sent to his brother, identified as MP, of phone Number: 0716410727.
