Ahead of the burial of Brazilian football Legend pele, mourners began paying their respects in a solemn procession past his coffin at the Vila Belmiro Stadium in his hometown of Santos on Monday, January 2, 2022.
The Legend’s coffin was placed in the field where he scored scored some of the best goals of his career as mourners walked past the casket in the 16,000-seat stadium outside Sao Paulo. His burial will take place in a cemetery which is 600 meters away from the stadium on Tuesday, January 3, 2022.
Football fans arrived at the stadium in the early hours of Monday to honor the veteran player, Edson Arantes do Nascimento, popularly known as Pelé.
