Kirinyaga Liquor Which Killed 23 Was Exhibit Sold By Police Officers To Bar Owner, New Report Shows

After recent incident in which deadly ilicit liquor claimed lives of 23 people in Kirinyaga County, reports are now emerging that the brew was exhibit which was stored at Kiamaciri police station.

An officer told Citizen digital that the illicit brew was exhibit at the station before four rogue officers sold it on Sunday night.

The officer However  asked not to be quoted as no one else could confirm his allegations as all senior police officers had been transferred.

“Our four police officers on Sunday night sold exhibits to the owner of the California bar at Ksh. 20,000 where each officer pocketed Ksh. 5000 each,” said the officer

Some customers of the entertainment joint lost their sight immediately they consumed the liquor while six others died on the spot.

Angry residents of Kangai village on Wednesday, February 7 morning burnt down the bar after reports of the deaths.

It’s also alleged that prior to the tragedy, the bar owner had been arresd 15 times and presented to court with the courts releasing him every time.

Frederick Shisia, the Central Regional Commissioner shifted blame to the courts, insisting that the deaths could have been avoided had the courts punished the owner of the bar selling the deadly liquor.
