The late Marathoner Kevin Kiptum was driving when he veered off the road, entered a ditch and hit a tree, and the car was reduced into a scrap metal.
The Wreckage of the car involved in an accident that killed the 24-year-old Marathon World Record Holder and his coach Gervais Hakizimana looked fully destroyed.
A social media user, identified as Gwiji noted that the accident also claimed Kiptum’s coach’s life but one lady identified as Sharon Kosgey escaped with injuries.
“A Wreckage of Marathoner Kevin Kiptum Toyota Premio which was involved in an accident along Kaptagat-Eldoret road killing him on the spot and his coach. The lady identified as Sharon Kosgey who was among the three occupants in the said vehicle escaped death with minor injuries and was rushed to Racecourse hospital for treatment as the two bodies of Kiptum and his coach taken to MTRH mortuary,” Gwiji wrote.
Kiptum’s body had no major injuries, doctors saying that the hero died of internal body breeding.
