The Masinde Muliro stadium in Bungoma will host the 61st Madaraka Day event, and it has been renovated to a greatly appealing look.
The Ministry of Interior had posted photos online depicting a flourishing shiny look.
This sports facility has been dull and outdated but has been refurbished and transformed into a great Stadium.
The Government spokesman Isaac Mwaura, in a statement on Friday said that completion of phase 1 of the stadium cost Sh807 million.
“Phase II of the Masinde Muliro project, covering terraces, perimeter fence and access passes is nearly complete at an additional cost of Sh790 million,” said Mwaura.
President William Ruto will preside over the Madaraka day celebrations which will be held in the stadium, the beautiful facility having spacious seating areas with comfortable seats and the vibrant green field is perfectly manicured.
Mwaura further revealed that The Matulo Airstrip in Bungoma was also rehabilitated at a cost of Sh139 million ahead of the festivities.
Masinde Muliro stadium is a 12,700 seater facility with the VVIP lodge section designed to accommodate 2,000 guests.
Sports Cabinet Secretary Ababu Namwamba toured the stadium and said that the refurbishment will still continue after the Madaraka Day festivities.
