An old woman in Sikusi village, Bungoma county escaped death narrowly after residents attacked her over claims that she was a witch.
According to a village elder identified as Mildred Nekesa, the woman was attacked after she depicted strange signs linked to witchcraft when she moved into a rented house in Sikusi market.
The residents invaded her house and burnt certificates, politicians posters, pieces of clothes, and dry chicken among other items. Nekesa said that a search was launched for the woman who luckily escaped on seeing residents heading towards her house.
“The suspect has stayed here for some time but her behaviour has not been appealing to us,” she said.
“We are still searching for her, we have almost combed the entire village but our efforts hit a snag,” she said.
