Investigations have been launched by police in Mombasa following an incident where a commercial sex worker aged 32 years was allegedly killed by a client in Bombolulu, Mombasa County.
According to reports, the woman was found murdered outside a local guest house on Friday morning after spending a night with an unknown man at the guest house.
The man allegedly killed the woman after a disagreement over payment.
Nkoko Injuu Africa Executive director, Maryline Laini, said the deceased who was a member of her organization, had reported to work on Thursday at around 9:00 pm when she met the said culprit.
“We highly suspect they disagreed over payment since prior to her death she had informed her workmates that she had made a kill,” Laini suggested .
Laini further disclosed that the naked body of the woman was discovered by her colleagues, who later alerted police officers.
“It’s still unclear if she was killed inside the guest house and her body dumped there since her workmates never heard any type of commotion at the time her body was discovered,” Laini added.
The body of the deceased bore strangulation marks, according to Laini.
“Her neck bore strangulation marks we highly suspect she was strangled inside the room before her body was dumped here,” Laini disclosed.
Maryline called on authorities to speed up investigations and bring to book those behind the heinous act.
“Life of a sex worker does matter… she has left behind children. We call on the police to speed up investigations and act on cases where sex workers feel their lives are being threatened,” she said.
The Police said that investigations are ongoing but however no arrests have so far been made.
