President William Ruto has declared his intention to raise the country’s average tax rate from 14% to 16% by the end of 2024.
“I am not going to preside over a bankrupt country, I am not going to preside over a country that is in debt distress. We have to cut our spending,” the head of state said.
Ruto also expressed his aim to raise the tax for up to 22% by the end of his term in office.
