Kenyan environmentalist Hillary Kibiwott was rushed to hospital immediately after he finished his 24-hour bid to plant 24,000 trees for a Guinness World Record on Thursday morning.

Officials thereafter verified the final count at Kessup Forest along the highland area of the Elgeyo Escarpment in Elgeyo Marakwet county, Kenya.

Kibiwot, however, did not succeed in planting his targeted number of seedlings, but was able to plant 23,326 trees between April 22 and 23.

To achieve this, over 971 trees were planted per hour, averaging to16 seeds per minute and an average of one seed in 3.7 seconds.
